Can you describe the feelings of a Christian who feels they are "called" to a certain ministry, or gets a certain personal revelation on any particular aspect of their life? Specifically, I want to know how they recognize that God is communicating to their heart. I'm looking for descriptions of the specific feelings that are involved.

This is to help me understand the subject of "personal revelation" from a non-LDS perspective.
