It's not about leaving, JAK

Hello JAK,

It's not about leaving, it's about time invested in trying to give a person a leg up and then invested in sorting out the trolls from the sincere. How many times have we seen it? How many times have we done it? It's about my learning to be more selective in what I become involved in and what I choose to devote my time to here. These kinds of scenes bring out the worst in me and I'm trying to avoid it and not waste my time on it.

So many good discussions have been destroyed here since I returned, on account of the antics of people like Boll Weevil, dee, Brian T. and johny. And me, I see someone who looks like they could use a little guidance, a friendly face (like johny) and my attention immediately becomes drawn to that. I'm starting to ask myself, what for? I'm not built for indifference and I've gotten tangled up in this kind of thing over and over and over again, and partly in the hopes that another believer would be able to participate here.

It's not that I want an "ally", but because I'm kind of tired of hearing my own voice here and because I'd really like to engage someone like a Pastor Glen who consistently drops the ball before it gets rolling. It's kind of like sitting down to a meal and someone taking your plate away. Does that make sense?

Thanks for your encouragement and for listening. You italicize in all the right places, and I read you loud and clear.

Vicki
