Though it may not be grammatically incorrect, I seldom use the construction "The reason why is because. . .." I prefer to say "the reason why is that. . ." or simply "this is because. . .." To me, this seems less clumsy and redundant, but I realize that this is just a personal preference of mine. Gunnar
