I confess when I first thought you were opposing the use of the clause, I was surprised and thought it unlike something you would say.

In addition your research on “reason why” is most interesting to read. There is no question that it is quite common in usage today.

One of the things which frequently generates misunderstanding in general is phrasing which is either ungrammatical or contains syntax problems. None of us is entirely free of misstatements particularly when we write rapidly and post as quickly.
