lol! oh, damn... thats not a joke...
As i joke i found it funny and entertaining; as something people really belive, it falls somewhere between pathetic and scary.
When any instiution begins to advocate any politcal view/stand then they sould pay taxes. Wait, why not make them all pay taxes? Then there is no threat, plus it becomes *gasp* FAIR. Now we wouldn't want that now would we (I'm using the exclusive "we" here)... treating religion like everything else (I wish).

Then the institution of government should be taxed. One of the most taxing things on government is the limits of their power - in our system We the People decided in 1787 that it could not tax or otherwise regulate the Church of Christ our Lord because as the Supreme Court later said, "the power to tax is the power to destroy. There are limits on how We the People can be taxed as well - it seems these too are being ignored these days. Lord help us! Amen? Amen! Say Amen and Hoshanna.

Then nothing should pay taxes, churches are an orginazation like a gang, a club, a buisness, or simply an activists group. They are people with a common goal, so I feel that it is only fair that they are all taxed or none are taxed.
Churches aren't special, and are not dserving of special treatement.
I myself dislike taxes, but I do accept them as nessicary... I like the goverment doing things, that takes money, which must come from the people.
Also what good would taxing the gov do? Thats like saying I'm going to give myself 15% of my income, and keep the rest for myself.

Churches should only be taxed if they are making a profit. The reason to not tax a church is most churches only take donations in order to take care of their buildings, and provide for the poor.
But when a church is acting as a lobbying group endorsing cnadidates, and publicly supporting or fighting bills, then their tax exempt status should be challenged.Wayne

I use the word taxing not in the sense of taking money but in the effect of limiting its power - something the government hates more than or at least as much as most people hate taxes.
And, Our Lord (mentioned in Art. VII of the Constitution) works thru His Church to that effect . Will you presume to limit the Holy One of Israel?
