I'm still having no small amount of problems with this software. First, when you go to secondary pages, often times there's no "home" button at all. The only way to get back home is to either enter the home page URL again or try to click "back" enough times to return you to where you came from. Note that often even that does not work, since certain pages expire.
Second, there's the "private message" feature. Someone posted some private messages to me, but there's no accomodation for removing them from your private message list once you've read them! It appears that even years from now, you will still have them on your "private message" list, even though you can't find them again. Also on this same topic, the software has reported that a couple of new private messages have been left, but I have no idea where they are and how to retrieve them except reading every single post to see if they may be attached there! On a different matter, no matter what time limit you set on your entry to the site, before long it is forced back to 1.5 hours for some reason. What I would like is a way to know that I am seeing EVERY post in a particular thread upon request and then return to more recent time scales also upon EXPLICIT request, rather than having this default automatically. There is more, but that will do it for now. Can anyone tell me how to solve these problems?

to retrieve a private message you simply clicked on "private msg" at the top of this page and you got them. Today is another story...first, I had to re-register again and I'm getting no result whatsoever on the private messages. Vicki

First, when you go to secondary pages, often times there's no "home" button at all. The only page I know of that does this is the polls which is just a single back click. The links may not be called "home" on the other pages but they are there. Examples are "forum", "Current Page" (to take you back to what you searched on like 1.5 hours, etc.), or "newest messages".

Try edit/delete. I've removed mine without a problem. There may be a security issue with the private messages though so the feature has been disabled.

I have not experienced this.

My browser also forces the 1.5 hours, immediately after I had switched to 6 hours. Ramona

It forces 1.5 hours or it has that up as the first available option after you are looking at the last 6 hours? When you select 6 hours does it show you the last six hours or the last 1.5 hours?

It shows six hours of threads, then the prompt goes immediately back to 1.5 hours. Ramona

Yes. That is how it should be. 1.5 is simply the first option in the list. Obviously, that can easily be changed to any time you want and it doesn't force you to view 1.5 when you want to view something else.

rpcman or Ramona, What do you mean by 1.5 or 6 hours of threads? I don't understand what the purpose of this is. BTW...did I read you correctly that private messages are now disabled?

In several of the views (including the main page) you can choose to view just those messages that have been posted in the past 1.5 hours, 3 hours, since last visit, etc. from a pull down menu. If you choose, say, 3 hours you will see the posts from the past 3 hours but the option if you wish to change the time frame will be at 1.5 hours. You will have to hit the "go" button to actually see those messages from the past 1.5 hours. Yes the private message feature has been disabled. It wasn't always working right. To send a private message now you can go through the person you are sending it to rather than having it appear on the server's harddrive.

rpcman, Thanks for the explanation. I'm a hands on learner, I'll mess around with it and see how that works. The layout looks much better than the first go round. I have some vision problems and the combination of large font and colors were hard for me to read. Is there a way to search on an individual's handle and read all of there posts? That was one method I used to catch up on the discussions I was involved in...search on my handle and see where I left off. Not to worry...I'll get the hang of this eventually!

You can find all of your discussion by clicking on your profile or by using the "find" option on the main page.

Look at a user profile page, for example. No "forum" or "current page" or "newest messages" or "home" link there. The same problem with the tag page.
There were other pages as well that I don't recall how I got there... And it was from these secondary pages that the time frame got reset.
I'll try to be more specific when I encounter them again.

Thanks for pointing this out. I've added a "Back to the forum" link to the bottom left corner of every page. (It won't show up on some older posts until someone replies to them.)
