Dear Friends, As one of the few remaining believers on the board (I count 2) I feel it my spiritual duty to transmit the following basic religious truths to the unchurched masses of our fair forum. These gleaned from the religious observations of the Right Reverend George Carlin! May they guide you to the denomination of your choice.
1. Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.

How very odd. I don't recognize Jews, Jesus, the Pope, or the Baptists after I go to the liquor store. I must be doing something wrong??Ramona - Queen of the wine and cheese

"A person should drink on Purim until the point where they cannot tell the difference between ‘Blessed is Mordechai' and ‘Cursed is Haman.'
Talmud-Megillah 7a/Shulchan Aruch (Code of Jewish Law)On Purim, one is commanded to drink wine to a point of inebriation. This is usually fulfilled during the course of the festive meal, although many also attempt this on Purim night, as well.>/I>
I'm just following the commandments.

I'd envy you your faith and devotion if alcohol didn't make me vomit.

Rdl,I am not much of an alcohol drinker. The only type that is palatable to me is a little wine, and I mean little. My husband considers me a cheap date in that 1/2 glass and I'm pretty happy. If I have two glasses, on rare occassion, I am at that religious point. I won't drink more than that. I fear that if I did, I would react as you do.
FYI A woman becomes an alcoholic in five years what it takes a man fifteen.

Hi Gals; I was a confirmed alcoholic the first time I tasted beer, which was at the ripe young age of fourteen, as I recall. I knew at that moment that I would never be able to function properly again without the golden elixer constantly at my disposal. Fifteen years, indeed!! More like fifteen minutes.I have therefore lived since then in a euphoric haze of perceived happiness and content and satisfied knowledge in knowing that some of my best and profound outlooks on life have been a result of my coming in contact with this heaven sent nectar of the gods.
AMEN

How women develop the disease quicker than men: There's a saying in recovery that women get sicker quicker than men. There's a "5 to 15" rule in recovery treatment. And that is this: when drinking the same amount of alcohol (and we're not talking about other drugs involved), it takes a man usually 15 years to develop to the same point in his disease that it takes a woman usually only five years to develop.
I was referring to this.Ramona

Hi Ramona; My post was meant somewhat in jest. What you say is interesting. Scuttlebutt has it that there are more female smokers than males and also that they have a more difficult time in kicking the habit. Any info on this? I do know that female brains are wired somewhat different than males in several respects. But females are thought to have a higher resistance to physical pain! Go figure.TLC

Estrogen with both alcohol and smoking.I know that you meant your post in jest. And took it as such. But a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. A female dear friend of mine "fell off the wagon" in a very hard way. I wrote a response in jest about intoxication, then her awful fall. I felt a bit guilty and responded with the information from my own research.

Victoria, Queen of the Late Night Kingdom replies:
That depends on what you acquired AT the liquor store as well as what you consumed thereafter! Prost!
