Arrogant Knave! Doth ye not know that thou hast, by thy first posting, entered the Late Night Kingdom of which I ruleth and all at once accepted the conditions of thy residency therein? How DARE thee stage a petition without first consulting ME? Hast thou lost thy mind, mongrel? And what? No invitation made for female posters? What dost thee think this is? A boys club? Thou hast overstepped thy wretched bounds! Bow down, misogynist Sir! Thus spake the fair and precious,
Victoria

No, no, no: "As it pleaseth me," or better, "As me pleaseth." Ten minutes in purgatory, Defiler of the Queen's English!

Welcome to hell. But before you take a seat, repeat "myself" ten times. Then repeat "mine own self" till your feet get warm. "An house," or "mine house" is permitted here. "An historical" gets you 20 years extra. -Bosq

Bosq,That is one that drives me batty. How is "an historical" even remotely acceptable? Is it perhaps of play on the English pronounciation of historical as the excuse? I have even seens metal signs with this atrocity. Ramona

If "an historical" gets you 20 years in purgatory, what makes you think I was suggesting it was acceptable? But in quaint dialects where the 'h' of unstressed syllables is not pronounced, it is certainly OK to use "an", i.e., "an 'istorical." This side of the Atlantic, it's preudo-learned nonsense, as we seem to agree.

Dear,I was not suggesting that YOU found it acceptable, but the city council found it proper to write "an historical." An "H" is clearly a consonant. Ramona

ahem...I do believe it is polite to refer to one as your holiness when addressing a pope.It would please me in as much as you remember to do so when next we should converse. It would also bode well to not risk my ire, for the ire of the faithless... er... that is... faithful is greatly to be reckoned with. Female contentious bastards may by rights offer their services, Ye MMMCCXXIII Erisian Church of Ye Holy Hopefully not too Mysterious Mysteries is an equal opportunity employer. Need I remind you our great goddess Eris does show her whimsey... er... that is benificent munificence to members of er... both genders. Ahem.
