"Weeks, not months...."

It would seem that the President must say what he means, and mean what he says -- especially when he is making a threat. President Bush has said repeatedly that war with Iraq would be “a matter of weeks not months.” Now, Bush has been saying this for several weeks. So, how many weeks can Bush go before we are getting into -- months? Have you considered this question?

According to official White House transcripts with the occurrence of the phrase “weeks not months,” it has occurred in two circumstances. First was September 12 in Bush’s speech to the U.N. when he called for the passing of a resolution “to disarm Iraq within weeks not months.” The resolution passed on November 8. White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer remarked that it had indeed taken “weeks not months.” He was right. It took one month, three weeks, and six days. That’s before the word month went from singular to plural. So based on that, the phrase weeks not months means anything short of two months.

In terms of actually disarming Iraq, the first time the phrase appears in that context is in the transcript for January 30, 2003, during a photo opportunity in the Oval Office at 12:13 P.M. The record shows the President used the phrase “a matter of weeks not months.” So if we take January 30, 2003 as the starting point and apply the anything under two months rule, Saddam has until March 29, 2003, 12:13 EST. --a little more than 5 weeks to get his duct tape in a row.

Jak,

The problem is that a new moon will be upon us at the beginning of March. And, we all know that a new moon is when such "games" begin.

Do you really agree with JAK that this is all a game? Surely you wouldn't say to all the suriving family members of the people that Saddam's murdered and tortured that their lives represented nothing more than tokens in a game.

I know JAK's biased and deluded, but don't tell me you are!

Game?? I'm a bit confused by your comment. I only made mention that in war, the best starting opportunity is in new moon.

Saddam uses his own people as shields, experiments, and slaves. Do I believe that such should be stopped? Of course. Do I believe that he assisting in financing terrorism that directly impacted our country? You betcha.

But, do I also read about the horrors taking place in N. Korea? Again, of course. Does Kim CHong IL have weapons that are capable of reaching our West Coast? Yes. And who else might? Can we stop them? Is our role international police?

I admit to being frightened... terribly so. My family was devastated in WWII. My father and his sister were the only family survivors on that side. My matriarchal side took a lessor, but tough hit also. War terrifies me. It completely and utterly terrifies me. It's real to me. I was born late in the lives of my parents, so I am out of time a generation. The stories that my parents told me, the starvation, the rape, and the horror. People will die, and if they live, they will still be destroyed. At the same time, doing nothing allows more people to be victimized by his regime, possibly even us. Again, is our role international police? I only have lots of questions and no answers.

Is our role international police?

Essentially, YES! Being the world's only superpower bears with it a huge responsiblity, clearly including enforcing U.N. mandates and keeping unstable and ruthless dictators like Hitler and Saddam from terrorizing their citizens and neighbors.

Would your parents have wanted the U.S. to have done nothing about Germany, Italy, and Japan in world war II, as so many of today's shallow-minded "peaceniks" would prefer we do about Iraq?

Spare us from such shallow-minded ignorance!

Our involvement in Korea protected the human rights and liberties of millions of people -- half the country -- which you in your evil and ignorant opinion would obviously have preferred to be enslaved.

Our involvement in Vietnam was REQUIRED by the terms of our treaty. Terrible blunders made on all sides made the war an insoluble mess, but we were morally and legally obligated to at least try to come to Vietnam's requested aid, if not for moral reasons, at least to uphold our treaty obligations. Clearly, you're too ignorant to know what the hell you're babbling about.

The U.S. intervention in Somalia was undeniably just and moral, even though most conservatives demanded that we remain unmoved and callous to those people's plight and just let 'em all starve. Since you're far too dull-witted and ignorant to understand simple morality, the U.S. deployed troops to stop the wholesale diversion by local warlords of vital food and aid to ensure that the populace got this aid necessary to relieve the terrible famine they were experiencing. Obviously, you would have much preferred that they suffer and die without us lifting a finger.

Just as your ignoble and heartless view was championed in the late 1930's and early 40's by the American Nazi Party and the hugely popular anti-Semitic group "America First". Your Jewish relatives who died in concentration camps would be so proud of you!

And such a great job in N. Korea. They obviously toe the line now, right? Wake up Martin, you are having the fantasyland dream again.

Vietnam, the War my brother volunteered for (did you?) Was another situation in which we cannot hold our heads up high and proclaim the opponents defeat. Wake up again Martin, it's the fantasyland dream again.

As for Somalia, I have a couple of Ranger buddies that are grateful to be alive after that fiasco. So, wake up from fantasyland again Marty.

As for bigotry, I'm not the one that wants to go in and kill a bunch of innocents. And, we can see how effective Israel's counterattacks are at preventing future attacks. In case you didn't catch that, it was a sarcastic comment.

And yes, my relatives would be proud of me. Had you bothered to understand my comments you would have seen that while I oppose war, it is at times necessary. Show me one place in which I said we must not do anything ever? But, you would rather not read, or read whatever you want and forget the meaning behind the words and reinterpret whatever you want. There is going to be death. I would prefer the situation be well thought out to minimize real, actual and final death. I really wish you would use that incredible brain that I know must be contained within. Perhaps, you running with imaginary thoughts is what got you into trouble with Vickipoo in the first place. Geez, perhaps you need to rethink that one and maybe apologize on groveling knees to her. Yeah right, you have no sense of loyalty or friendship and an excess of foolish pride. You wouldn't dare admit to the drama that is the true cause of your problems which you desire to cast on RDL.

Ask RDL if I want to escalate this further? Is that some kind of a childish attempt at a veiled threat? Eww, I'm shaking in my black pumps.

Your mother must be so proud when you speak to her in disagreement with such vulgarity, unless of course you beat her to the point that she dare not offend you.

Ramona, with staggering callousness and stupidity wrote: "And such a great job in N. Korea"! Just as I said, the bubble-headed Ramona is so stupid she can't understand even the most basic facts! According to her incredibly vapid "opinion", the freedom and rights we secured for millions in the South count for absolutely nothing since we failed to achieve the same goal in the North! You're an evil, heartless wretch, Ramona!

Then she stupid wrote: "Vietnam, the War my brother volunteered for (did you?)" I was still a little kid when we pulled our troops out, but I have little doubt that in your tiny little excuse for a brain, you hold that against me anyway.

Ramona then stupidly and callously and evilly continued, in her baffling Tarzan syntax: "Was another situation in which we cannot hold our heads up high and proclaim the opponents defeat."

SO??? Holy Bob, you're an evil, heartless bitch! Just as in your contemptibly heartless "opinion" regarding Korea, the fact that we lost is all that matters to you! You're truly sick, Ramona.

You continue with your hateful, scandalously heartless contempt for human life when you stupidly write: "As for Somalia, I have a couple of Ranger buddies that are grateful to be alive after that fiasco."

Oh, heavens! It's too, too terrible to contemplate! Friends of yours were actually somewhat imperilled while trying to save millions of people from starvation! Just because they were members of the armed forces deployed in action doesn't mean that any possible exposure to actual risk should ever be tolerated, no matter how many millions of other's lives would be protected!

You disgust me utterly, you evil champion of letting starving people die if it means anyone might ever take a risk to avoid it! You are truly contemptible!

Make sure you put a big sign up in front of your and your childrens' houses telling any firefighters or other emergency personnel that they shouldn't do anything to help the residents because there might be a risk involved!

Then you hatefully, ignorantly, and profoundly stupidly wrote: "As for bigotry, I'm not the one that wants to go in and kill a bunch of innocents."

Oh, darn, you got me. Shucks. Killing innocent people is the only thing that the governments of Albania, Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States want to do in Iraq! Yep, that whole "Saddam" thing is just a ruse; all those nations want to spend billions of dollars to murder innocent people. I can't figure out how you cracked the secret!

In case you didn't catch that, it was a sarcastic comment.

Let me repeat your deliberately false and evil assertion: "I'm not the one that wants to go in and kill a bunch of innocents."

Please, you hateful, lying harridan, please cite the post where I said that I "want to go in and kill a bunch of innocents"!

You then write: "And yes, my relatives would be proud of me."

Just keep telling yourself that... (Even though Jonathan Edward told me they're not, and are in fact quite ashamed that you turned out to be so ignorant).

But I have to say I found your pathetic jealousy to be quite amusing when you wrote: "Perhaps, you running with imaginary thoughts is what got you into trouble with Vickipoo in the first place. Geez, perhaps you need to rethink that one and maybe apologize on groveling knees to her."

I love it!! You shouldn't be so jealous, dear.

You continue: "Yeah right, you have no sense of loyalty or friendship and an excess of foolish pride."

But I still have all those mushy and sexy love letter emails you sent me, dear! I'll treasure them always...

You go on: "You wouldn't dare admit to the drama that is the true cause of your problems which you desire to cast on RDL."

Don't think that, honey! rdl doesn't mean as much to me as you do, baby! Sure, she illegally and unethically quotes and corrupts my posts, and you know just how hot that makes me, but you still gots the moves, baby! You ain't that old!

Then you write: "Your mother must be so proud when you speak to her in disagreement with such vulgarity, unless of course you beat her to the point that she dare not offend you."

Don' you know it, bitch! I keep that ho down, bitch; yo gots to know dat!

Love,

Ramona,

You make some fine points. One which may seem small in your over-all post is this: “There is going to be death.”

No one will argue with that. We Americans generally don’t like assissnation as a word applied to our own killing of others. We much prefer phrases like “neutralize the enemy” and “remove the danger” when we plan to kill people.

If it were possible to somehow “remove Saddam” kill him along with any loyalists to him that might simply move in to take his place, would that be acceptable to YOU as an alternative to bombing Baghdad and all the killing which that will produce?

A larger question (I do not wish to consider this with you as a focus) is Would Americans in some majority be willing to admit they favor killing a few key people to avoid the terrible death, destruction, ruined lives, and all other horrors which war brings to large numbers of people?

Are we Americans in some (I will add) significant percentage willing to play killer of a few rather than what we did in Viet Nam and most likely Afghanistan?

It is a question about which I think Americans may be in a shifting state.

JAK

Now, It was just in the news that the Administration is not going to introduce a resolution now beecause there is not enough support for it. Wait, we (and they) do again!

When a few days ago I aksed for 'celebration' there was some concern that I may have talked too soon. Of course I didn't mean that to be the last and final celebration. Can't we have little celebrations in the interim?!

... is condemning the U.S. for even making fully justified and open threats against the blood-lusting tyrant Saddam Hussein for producing and hiding weapons of mass destruction and violating a whole host of U.N. resolutions and mandates!

The obvious truth is that, without such threats, Saddam would have done nothing to comply with U.N. mandates!

If JAK and his ignorant, shallow, and short-sighted cabal had their way, they would prefer a letter from the U.S. administration not unlike the following:

Dear Saddam, my good friend,

Me and the guys here were thinking the other day that it might be nice if maybe you would think about considering whether or not it would be a good idea to stop killing and torturing your citizens that disagree with you. But only if it's convenient, of course.

And by the way, you know all of those MWD and biological and chemical stockpiles you failed to account for that all those pesky U.N. resolutions demanded? Aren't those U.N. guys just so mean and disrespectful? And they're so darned nosy! But some of the cry-babies around here think that it might look better if you maybe played along a little bit, dripping out the mere appearance of cooperation just so that the world's billions of anti-Americans can point to your little window-dressing and proclaim how honest and forthcoming you are, and how dedicated you are to peace.

But if that's any trouble for you, don't worry about it. It's just a suggestion that you don't have to take too seriously.

Love,

XOXOXOX

Your loving Georgie

The obvious truth is that, without such threats, Saddam would have done nothing to comply with U.N. mandates!

Your contempt for free speech and your love of censorship proves what a fascist and petty little girl you are, rdl, and that's all you are!

But I'm honored you're so infatuated with me and my ideas that you follow me around like a little puppy dog and quote my writings. At least this way I'm sure you're supping up everything I write...

Ramona,

rdl's free-speech hating fascism in censoring and then reposting my posts IS EXACTLY the reason for all this! THAT'S why I followed suit and posted something after each of rdl's posts!

I'm natural. My highlights come from the sun. My daughter is almost white haired, even with her dark haired daddy (well, the part of his hair that remains.)

Doesn't doing something with your hair just make you feel fabulous? The best part is the shampoo and massage though.

Your contempt for free speech and your love of censorship proves what a fascist and petty little girl you are, rdl, and that's all you are!

You're only pushing my buttons harder with your censorship and busybody interference, and you're an idiot to fail to understand that.

rdl, you're quite stupid if you think you can out-child me, although you seem stupidly determined to try. You have been consistently exacerbating the problem, and your idiotic efforts have only made me still more determined. And I must say it gives me no small amount of pleasure and satisfaction that I have such total power over you that you can't stop yourself from following me around so slavishly and re-quoting my words!

Thoughtful, rational, intelligent posts get an adult response. Cretins like you don't deserve one. And I don't give a damn how much that lowers people's opinions of me!

Ramona writes: "Thoughtful, rational adults produce an adult response."

And how would you know, Ramona?

Besides, that's exactly what I've done. rdl is illegally quoting and unethically censoring and corrupting my words against my wishes. To capitulate to her censorship is to condone censorship and to condone her behavior, and that I will not do. Since I have no means of preventing her from breaking the law and from corrupting and censoring my words, I am left with nothing but to try to make her and those who support her actions (such as yourself) at least as unhappy as she and you are making me. And since rdl is censoring my use of language, it is perfectly sensible and reasonable to raise the stakes by making my use of language even more offensive. Until she realizes that far from solving a problem, she's created and is steadily exacerbated one and stops her illegal and costly behavior, I will continue my own.

Oh, I almost forgot... Screw you, you stinking whore!

MR. AL CASE, RDL'S DELIBERATE VIOLATION OF FEDERAL COPYRIGHT LAW CONTRARY TO EXPLICIT WARNINGS ON THIS FORUM VIS-A-VIS ILLEGALLY REPRODUCING COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL PLACES BOTH YOU AND HER IN VIOLATION OF FEDERAL STATUTES, AND MAKE YOU BOTH SUBJECT TO FEDERAL PROSECUTION.

RDL IS ALSO VIOLATING MY "MORAL RIGHTS" (A TERM OF ART IN COPYRIGHT LAW), SPECIFICALLY MY "RIGHT OF INTEGRITY", WHICH PROTECTS COPYRIGHTED WORK OTHER THAN THOSE IN PERIODICALS OR NEWSPAPERS FROM BEING "ALTERED, DISTORTED, OR MUTILATED". THESE "MORAL" RIGHTS ARE ALSO PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT LAW.

I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE THAT I REQUEST YOU TO:

(1) DELETE EACH OF HER POSTS WHICH UNACCEPTABLY REPRODUCE EXCESSIVE PORTIONS OF MY COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL AND VIOLATE MY "RIGHT OF INTEGRITY", WHICH POSTS INCLUDE AT A MINIMUM:

Re: another error (posted by Martin-edited by rdl)

Re: "You're even more evil..."

Re: Spare me your armchair psychoanalysis (edited)

AND EVERY OTHER UNLAWFUL POST SHE MIGHT SUBSEQUENTLY MAKE,

(2) AND ADVISE RDL PUBLICLY AND BY ANY OTHER MEANS AVAILABLE TO YOU THAT SHE MUST CEASE HER VIOLATIONS OF FEDERAL LAW, AND THAT YOU AS THE PUBLISHER OF THIS UNLAWFUL MATERIAL ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO PROSECUTION SHOULD SHE CONTINUE HER VIOLATIONS. THIS IS NO IDLE OR JOKING MATTER. I'M DEAD SERIOUS AND WILL DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO PROTECT MY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND "RIGHT OF INTEGRITY" FROM HER KNOWING AND DELIBERATE FLOUTING OF THE LAW.

THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION, MR. CASE. YOU DOUBTLESS KNOW YOUR LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES, BUT IF YOU DON'T, YOU SHOULD CONSULT AN ATTORNEY IMMEDIATELY.

THIS DEMANDS IMMEDIATE ACTION.

Martin,

You are going to make us unhappy? You are going to "raise the stakes? How is that? Are you going to swear at us? Too bad, you've already overused that boring tactic. I think perhaps you are watching too much t.v., and that Hollywood entertainment has sucked you into it's attempt to boost ratings.

Yawn,
