I think you're alone partly because hardly anyone's posting, and it's a board that caters largely to non-believers. Maybe the new board will take time to develop, or maybe the switch from the old forum is going to guarantee lower volume here. But I do wonder, like you, where folk like Glen and Karyn have gone. To better places? Still, you've got your liberal Mormon believers who've stuck around. Nevo, the Vines, Mensch, mikwut, et al. Do you take some comfort in them? Who do you hope will rise up to meet the believer's roll call?

Comfort isn't the issue. When I first came on the board it seemed like I was the only believer of my kind, if you will, and it was a long time before I saw others who were like minded posting. For awhile we had a good thing going so far as offering variances in perspective amongst believers. I was one of three SB's so people could hear differing perspectives from within the SB faction. Then Karyn and others came along. At that point if I wasn't able to fully address a question I could refer people to others. At least people could get their questions answered. I wanted to know who else is out there because if I'm the only one left of my kind then I'll need to go into survival mode and limit my participation to far less threads than I've grown accustomed to because I won't be ahle to handle a larger volume of responses given time constraints. Okay, I typed this without my glasses, please excuse any typo's! Vicki

I can understand your feeling that if you're alone then you've got to take on less threads. Too many questions for one person to address. I, for one (now as Cal, before as JLS), have from the outset been glad you've been posting here, so please don't retreat too far into survival mode.

For the encouragement! I feel there needs to be a good sampling of both Christians and non-believers on this board to generate a healthy amount of conflict in order to keep the discussions interesting and stimulating. I will most surely need to limit the number of threads I post on here until others show up...unless we get a good Colorado blizzard, in which case I'll be here so much you'll all tire of me! Let it snow! Vicki

I'm a believer!I did smile widely at something you wrote, thinking about where you mention "both Christians and non-believers." Heck, there are non-believers as to the merits of canned tuna; there are believers and disbelievers as to the benefit of prayer. Me, I'm big on prayer, I'm big on Wishing Wells, I'm big on God and the Universe. I'm patiently waiting to feel confident I say I know what in the patoot I'm talking about on the latter two. I enjoy scripture (some of it), take what I need and leave the rest. I cook the same way. It's my motto that not all ingredients and taste buds are created equal. I dropped in quite infrequently at the old Forum but I always enjoyed your words among those from many others. A few will know me as "Too." Don't let that frighten you. I celebrate your beliefs and mine and wanted to say, "howdy, Vicki!" Deb

Folks,
I have this strange feeling that I'm the only believer left on the board who is posting regularly! Seems like old times. If you are a believer would you mind logging in here for me? Thanks and I appreciate it.
Vicki Ramona - I believe in a supreme power. I just admit not understanding or having divine ignorance. FYI
Per Hans-Joachim Schoeps: "Religion may be defined, in its broadest sense, as the relationship between man and the superhuman power he believes in and feels himself to be dependent on." "The common feature of all religions is that they move men to the depths of their beings, because religious feeling is rooted in the core of human existence." per Jakob Burkhardt "Religions are the expression of the eternal and indestructible metaphysical craving of human nature. Their grandeur is that they represent the whole supersensual complement of man, all that he cannot himself provide." -Ramona

VickiWell I consider myself to be a believer Vicki -a VERY liberal believer, so I don't know how much we have in common. I've had less time to spend here recently, but hope I'll still get a chance to check in now and then. Zoe

Believe what exactly? I believe people in the Church are surely imperfect, in fact, I cant stand most of them. However, I do believe that The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, through The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or they contain the fulness of the gospel and they have the authority.

I hope you don't think I meant to discount violet, Ramona, or T Bone as believers. I was thinking of people whose beliefs are a little more in line with my own such as Zoe and Karyn. I'm glad to see that Zoe is still around (please start posting?) and I hope to see more of Mat as well. kentish left when the new board went up and where is Karyn?? Nice to see you here Deb! Start posting!!!! Thank you for your responses!

I just made two posts here and they don't show up! I know they're there because when I click on 3 hours I see them but then it looks all scrambled. I just notice that Martin posted shortly before or after I did on another thread and his posts show??? Anyone??? Vicki

Vicki, I have noticed problems as well. While I haven’t made many comments, there appear to be some difficulties. We’ll see if this posts in the correct place. JAK

I tried what Martin suggested and clicked on the OP and saw all of the posts including yours! I wonder why the inconsistency? There is no cap off on the number of posts in a thread as other threads contain FAR more posts than this one! Victoria

I am still here, but it hasn't been easy.
I accept the inspired Word of God (otherwise known as the Bible).
The Trinity.
The death, burial, and resurrection...

Hi Vicki, Holidays have kept me busy :-) That and, given my limited knowledge and understanding of most things, I haven't come across a discussion to which I could contribute anything meaningful. But I will continue to check things out now and again. I hope you are well. - sojourner

sojourner! I wish you'd stick around with us here. I am sure you have a contribution to make. With regards to meaningful. You once posted words to me that were highly meaningful at a time when they were much needed "up you go Baby!" Stick around? Vicki
